OurSpace Learning Space meets Tuesdays at Temple Aliyah from 4:00-6:15 P.M.

​

A weekly class for students who thrive in a small classroom environment.
This class serves students with a range of strengths, abilities and challenges: including language
and visual processing disorders, ADD/ADHD, OCD, and other learning or social challenges.

Alef: 2nd – 4th grade
Bet: 5th – 7th grade (this class includes B'nei Mitzvah Preparation with a team of specialists and clergy)

 

OurSpace Teen Space Program Grades (8th -11th) Wednesdays at Temple Aliyah from 6:30-8:30 P.M.

Teen Space is open to post B’nei Mitzvah students and teens who have graduated from the weekday afternoon OurSpace classes or from the community at large who are interested in life-long Jewish learning, Tikkun Olam and social opportunities. Learning takes place in small groups with differentiated instruction, and students receive support navigating the social scene, while fully included in the weekly USY program.

 

What makes this program even more unique is that OurSpace Teen Space is partnering with The Media Enrichment Academy in Sherman Oaks. The curriculum for the first year, the participants will focus on their Jewish journey. Students will discover Torah and relevant connections to their lives; will develop an understanding of what God and Torah mean to them, will connect Torah texts with main ideas and morals or values they have learned.

Youth Group and Choir Programs:

OurSpace B’Yachad Alef  Youth Group (7–11yrs.) One Sunday a Month at Temple Aliyah

A monthly youth program that provides children with a warm, caring, supportive space where participants have opportunities to engage in fun social activities with "like-minded" peers, while receiving support and guidance from the OurSpace staff. Programming is related to Jewish holidays and special community events.

 

OurSpace Kolot Tikva/Voices of Hope Choir (all ages)  Two Sundays a Month at Temple Aliyah 5:00-6:00 P.M. (see events page for details)

Kolot Tikva Choir is under the direction of Temple Aliyah’s Hazzan Mike Stein, is a choir for children, teens and adults with special needs. The participants learn and sing songs in both Hebrew and English for the pure joy of singing.

 

While music helps to improve speech and language, the Kolot Tikva Choir creates a space where participants joyfully raise their voices in song. While music helps to improve speech and language, the Kolot Tikva Choir gives its participants a space to raise their voices in song embracing and celebrating their strengths and abilities. This program is crafted in a way that allows members to learn and perform music that uses all of their potential.  It is open to all who apply. The OurSpace Voices of Hope /Kolot Tikva Choir has performed at a Shomrei Torah Kabbalat Shabbat service,and other local synagogues, at the Jewish Federation Valley Alliance dinner, City Hall Hanukkah Candle Lighting Ceremony, at the Temple Aliyah original Gospel service by Hazzan Mike Stein, and at Organizational Gala events.

 

Parent Chats

Monthly parent chats offer parents a space to network, share, learn, schmooze and build community. Parent partnership with professionals and each other is a key to the success of OurSpace programs. This program takes place once a month on Tuesday mornings and evenings throughout the year at Temple Aliyah.
